DC United Foundation recently held a special Soccer & Soar event in Montgomery Village, providing young soccer players with invaluable mentorship and professional training. Partnering with the 480 Club, the event took place at South Valley Park and celebrated the success of the 480 Club Soccer Program in the Gaithersburg Parks & Recreation Soccer League. This initiative aims to eliminate barriers for youth participation in organized sports, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to play soccer regardless of their background. The program does not require tryouts or fees, making it accessible to everyone. During the event, participants received professional-level training from DC United representatives, who led a soccer clinic focused on skill development and encouragement. The young athletes also enjoyed a memorable trip to Audi Field to watch a DC United match, where they posed for a group photo on the field. The clinic provided participants with soccer equipment, including balls, shin guards, and jerseys, reinforcing the message that they are valued. Joseph Hooks, founder of the 480 Club, emphasized the importance of DC United's involvement, stating that the foundation's investment in the community inspires youth for years to come. The collaboration between DC United Foundation, the 480 Club, and local organizations continues to create meaningful opportunities for young people, helping them build confidence, develop leadership skills, and form lasting friendships.
